Prospective undergraduates: email Lauren with (i) a few sentences describing the kinds of questions or topics you are interested in, (ii) the area(s) of research in our lab that you want to learn more about, (iii) a list of some of the relevant courses you have taken to date, (iv) your professional/post-graduate plans (if you have them - this allows me to consider how a rotation with our lab could best serve your career goals).
Prospective graduate students: check out the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) at UA and see if it's a place you might want to be. Then email Lauren with some info about your academic background (where are you coming from?) and some of your research ideas/interests if you have them. It is OK if you don't have any yet. I'm just interested to hear them if you do. Either way, we can set up a time to chat to see if we might be a good fit for each other.
*****Graduate students interested in applying for Fall 2024 should contact me and follow the detailed application instructions (check out the FAQ) here and plan to apply by December 1st, 2023.
Prospective postdocs: I am currently recruiting a three-year, fully-funded postdoc to work with me on a few projects related to the mammalian gut microbiome (more specifics when we chat). If you're interested, please email me with your CV and some of your interests and we can set up a time to talk.
I am also always happy to sponsor independent postdoc fellowship applications (e.g., NSF and/or NIH). There are also a number of internal postdoc opportunities at UA (e.g., One Health postdoc) Please contact me if you are interested in writing one of these together.
I am also hiring a lab manager to begin as soon as possible, renewable for up to 3 years (with the potential for longer). The ideal candidate for this role would have a BA/BS, general biology wet lab experience, and be interested in contributing to some of the new and ongoing projects happening in the lab as well as helping to set up and shape the lab from its inception.
